How do I configure Outlook Express to retrieve my personal email?

  1. Open Outlook Express.
  2. Click on Accounts under the Tools selection.
  3. Click on the Mail tab.
    NOTE: If you already have a profile set up, click on the Properties button
    and fill in the fields as indicated below. If not, press Add and then fill in the fields.
  4. Fill in the fields on the General tab as indicated below:
    Mail Account: Enter your name or something to specifically identify this mail account
    Name: Your name
    Organization: Filling in this field is optional
    Email Address: Put your email address here
    Reply Address: Usually the same as your email address
  5. Fill in the fields on the Servers tab as indicated below:
    Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.yourcompany.com
    Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: pop.yourcompany.com

    Your Email Account Name: yourusername@yourcompany.com
    Password: (optional)
  6. Log on using:
    Account Name: yourusername@yourcompany.com
    Password: Your password
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click Close.

Congratulations, you have just configured Outlook Express to retrieve your personal email.

How do I configure Eudora to retrieve my personal email on my PC?

To Configure Eudora v1.x for the PC:

  1. Start Eudora by clicking on the Eudora icon.

  2. Click on the Cancel button when prompted for your password.

  3. Click on Special and then click on Configuration.

  4. Configure the following fields:
    POP Account: yourusername@mail.yourcompany.com
    Real Name: Your Full Name
    SMTP Server:
    smtp.yourcompany.com
    Return Address: yourusername@yourcompany.com
    To Configure Eudora Lite for the PC:

  5. If this is the first time you have configured Eudora Lite, the settings windows
    appear automatically. If you are changing the configuration, select Special
    and then Settings or Tools and then Options.

  6. Click on Getting Started and enter the following settings:
    POP Account: yourusername@mail.yourcompany.com
    Real Name: Your Full Name

  7. Click on Personal Information and enter the following settings:
    POP Account: yourusername@mail.yourcompany.com
    Real Name: Your Full Name
    Return Address: yourusername@yourcompany.com

  8. Click on Hosts and enter the following settings:
    POP Account: yourusername@mail.yourcompany.com
    SMTP Server:
    smtp.yourcompany.com

  9. Click the OK button.
    Eudora should be able to send and receive mail with these settings. The rest of these settings are particular preferences for the user. They are not necessary for the operation of Eudora.


How do I configure Eudora to retrieve my personal email on my Mac?

To navigate to Eudora Light:

  1. Locate and click on the Internet Starter Kit folder.

  2. Click on the Eudora Light folder.

  3. Click on the Eudora Light icon to start the program.

To configure Eudora Light:

  1. Click on the Special menu.

  2. Select the Settings menu item. The Eudora Light configuration settings display.
    Configure the settings as indicated below.

  3. Getting Started
    The POP Account should be yourusername@mail.yourcompany.com
    Example: john.doe@mail.widgetcompany.com
    o The Real Name should be your full name.
    o The Connection Method should be MacTCP.

  4. Personal Information
    o Accept the default setting for POP Account.
    o Accept the default setting for Real Name.
    o The Return Address should be username@yourcompany.com
    Example: john.doe@widgetcompany.com
    o The Dialup Username should be your full email address.
    Example: (john.doe@widgetcompany.com).

  5. Hosts
    o Accept the default setting for POP Account.
    o The SMTP should be listed as whatever your current ISP’s SMTP server address is
    o The PH should be left blank.
    o The Finger should be left blank. Configure any remaining settings according to
    your preference. Click OK to close the Settings. Your mail program is now configured
    to send and receive email.

To check your email:

  1. Click on the File menu.

  2. Select Check Mail.


How do I configure Netscape to retrieve my personal email?

  1. Start Netscape Email by starting Netscape Navigator and clicking on Mail in the group of buttons near the top of the screen or clicking on the envelope in the lower-right corner of the window.
  2. Click on the Options menu and select Mail and News Preferences.
  3. Click on the Identity tab and configure the following fields:
    Your Name: Your Full Name
    Your Email: yourusername@yourcompany.com
    Reply-to Address: yourusername@yourcompany.com
    Your Organization: enter your business/organization name or leave blank
  4. Click on the Servers tab and configure the following fields:
    Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.yourcompany.com
    Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: pop.yourcompany.com
    POP3 User Name: yourusername@yourcompany.com
    Maximum Message Size: click None
    Messages are copied from the server, then...
    click Removed from the server
    Check for Mail: click Every and enter a number in the minutes field
  5. Click Ok.
